Each process generally occurs at least once in every project phase.

Although the processes are presented here as discrete elements with well-defined interfaces, in practice they may overlap and interact in ways not detailed here.

Over and again we saw that project managers were consistently ignoring project communications on their projects.

For example, we saw that many project managers were not building effective communication plans.

Everyone involved in the project must be prepared to send and receive communications in the project "language" and must understand how the communications they are involved in as individuals affect the project as a whole.

I use this important tool upfront in a project, to determine who to communicate with (e.g. Once you understand this toolkit and approach, you’ll be much better equipped to keep your stakeholders informed of what’s going on in your project.

Well, for me, it’s definitely project communication.

As project managers, we all know how important communication is.

Then, write down the objectives for the communication plan. Make sure to keep these things in mind for the current communication plan and make adjustments accordingly. What’s the priority of the project in the general project portfolio? Since different audiences will need different information, this step is crucial.

Think about the general strategy that you are going to take with the communication. Do you need to keep stakeholders like investors informed? If you haven’t done a stakeholder analysis yet, do it now.
